Welcome Security U. Online

Purpose

“Welcome to Security University online. Here you can take your Texas security level II and level III course online. This program has been developed to help those who want to pursue a career in the security field but don’t have the time to sit in a classroom for a 50 hour course.

We are a Texas Training Academy, certified by the State of Texas (License #F01344 ) to teach Level 3 and Level 2 courses.

For more information on how the online process works please view our information tab above.

Requirements

Prior to taking the Level III course you must have either your Level II license in hand or have taken the Level II test. If you need your level II license please sign up for the Level II course.

Course Certification

The Level 3 course is broken up into 4 parts. The first part is the classroom or online portion, followed by a written test, then Defensive Tactics portion, and finally the Firearms portion. You must pass each portion of the course in order to receive your certificate. Both the Defense Tactics and Firearms portions have physical tests you must pass in order to complete the portion.

The Written Test, Defensive Tactics, and Firearms portions are all done in 1 day (10 hours).

How It Works

This is the step-by-step process:

Student completes all online modules

  • After the online course has been completed, the training coordinator will send the student an email with the contact information to schedule their written and proficiency exam.
  • On the day of class, students will physically check in with the instructor by showing their
    state-approved ID.
  • Students will first take the written exam.
  • After they pass the written test they will go into the Defensive Tactics Portion.
  • Upon successfully completing the Defensive Tactics portion they will move on to the Firearms
    portion.
  • Upon successfully completing the firearms portion the student will be given their
    the certificate that day.
  • If the student fails any of the portions they will not be allowed to continue and must start
over. This means you must pay for the entire course again.

What to expect from the online portion of modules.

40 Hours of Course Work
The online portion is 40 hours of modules. Each module varies in the amount of time it takes to complete.

Timed Course
The module has a timer which will not let you advance to the next slide until the time has passed.

Exams
At end of each module is a practice test. You must pass the practice test before you can complete the module.
You must complete all modules before you can sign up for the 1 day class.

Requirement
For the Firearms portion, students will be required to bring their own handgun (min. 9 mm and no large than .45 cal) along with 100 rounds of ammunition for their firearm.

Equipment Inspection
The firearm and ammo will be inspected by our range team prior to use. If they determine either is not in working order the student will not be able to use them.

Equipment Rental
